In the five years between 1997 and 2002, CENTURIAN pioneered the second wave of death metal among acts as Angelcorpse and Krisiun. The band played throughout the U.S. and Europe, earning a very solid underground reputation because of their distinctive songwriting and a relentlessly aggressive approach.
Between 2002 and 2010, songwriter/guitarist Rob Oorthuis focused his energy on a new band called NOX. CENTURIAN was left dead but dreaming at this time. NOX was an opportunity for Rob to explore other extreme realms musically and to evolve as a guitarist. Some very successful shows were done with bands like ANTAEUS, NIFELHEIM, DESTROYER 666 and THE DEVIL'S BLOOD. NOX received great reviews but suffered multiple lineup changes. In 2010 NOX is put on ice.
The 2011 rebirth of CENTURIAN was celebrated with shows throughout Europe and Brazil. A new full-length "Contra Rationem" is to be released on Listenable Records (2/26 in North America). It contains the band's most diverse and dynamic songs to date and proves yet again the weird and wrathful style of CENTURIAN!
